Subway, the US based Sandwich chain is aiming to open 1,000 new outlets by 2015 in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Currently, the brand has marked presence in the region via 250 outlets. Subway restaurants are located in over nine countries in the Arab world, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. Further, in the Saudi Arabia alone, the brand’s master franchisee Shamel Food Company is looking to have 120 stores in the country by the end of 2017. At present, the brand has 48 stores across Saudi Arabia and 12 stores are expected to be opened in 2012. Subway Restaurants recognised for healthier sandwiches options has 36,000 stores worldwide.
