Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Holding, the UAE-based developer plans to expand ‘Carrefour’ the French supermarket chain in several new markets like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.
Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Holding, the UAE-based developer plans to expand ‘Carrefour’ the French supermarket chain in several new markets like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. The brand’s first location in Georgia is expected to come up soon. MAF has regional franchise rights for the retail brand and it is looking to open nearly ten hypermarkets and 15 supermarkets by the end of the year. The planned new openings will also be through franchise agreements. Currently, MAF operates 45 Carrefour stores in several countries. Established in 1992, Majid Al Futtaim Holding today is a leading retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa. As part of the expansion of its retail portfolio, the company is also looking for new partners and opportunities in fashion and F&B segment. Besides, its subsidiary MAF Properties is planning to add nearly eleven more malls as part of its expansion, with focus on smaller sized malls.
