The UAE based retail giant Landmark Group is looking to spend AED500m ($136m) on growing its Fitness First chain of gyms across the Middle East. It has plans to spend around AED3-5m on each club and expects to sign up 3,000 members per gym. It is targeting to launch 100 new centres over the five years, including 35 in the UAE. The brand will have total number of 23 outlets in the Middle East and 17 in the UAE by January 2012.
Dubai-based Landmark acquired the franchise rights for the UK-based fitness chain last year for the Middle East after purchasing a subsidiary of Saudi leisure company Al Hokair Group.
