UAE-based Dubai Duty Free (DDF), the world’s biggest duty free retailer has opened its first ‘border store’ at Hatta.
UAE-based Dubai Duty Free (DDF), the world’s biggest duty free retailer has opened its first ‘border store’ at Hatta. Located on border of the United Arab Emirates and Oman, the store covers an area of nearly 42 sq. m and will be open 24 hours. The new outlet will retail a selection of high-demand items including confectionery, perfumes and tobacco but not alcohol. The DDF store has been designed as a well-situated stop over point for people crossing to and from Dubai. Dubai Duty Free opened for business on December 20th 1983. Today, DDF has grown to become one of the world's largest airport retailers with a turnover of Dhs5.311 billion (US$1.46 billion) in 2011.
