Worldwide Hotel Company Best Western International (BWI) plans to open its first luxury properties in the Mid-East by the end of 2012. The hotel operator’s franchised hotel portfolio includes brands such as Best Western Plus, Best Western Premier and Best Western. Its two new properties for brand Best Western Premier will be opened in Mahbola in Kuwait and Muscat in Oman. They are scheduled to open in last quarter of 2012. Besides, Best Western Premier brand has also expanded into Iraq in 2011 by partnering Golden Mountains Company. The construction has also started for these new properties in Erbil, Iraq that are slated to open in 2013 and Q1, 2014. BWI already operates two midscale hotels in Saudi Arabia and one in Qatar. The company is considering further expansion of its regional portfolio, if it gets strong developmental opportunities and capable partners. BWI are also looking to open nine new hotels in seven cities in Saudi Arabia, in the next two years.
