Lulu hypermarkets chain owned by the UAE based retailer EMKE Group is expanding aggressively in the Middle East. The chain recently opened five new stores in Abu Dhabi, Ghayati, Bahrain and Oman. Now, Lulu has total 99 stores in the region. It will soon open its 100th store in the RAK Mall in Ras Al Khaimah. With these new openings, EMKE is aspiring to consolidate its position as a leading company in the Gulf retail sector expanding its store network in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Further, the Group is investing more than Dh1.5 billion in 2012 into these new projects. It will soon open its first Lulu Shopping Mall in Kochi, marking the brand’s entry Indian retail market. EMKE is also affirming its smaller Express concept of convenience stores across the Middle East. It recently launched three Lulu Express stores in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah to increase the count of the Express stores to six.
